The Sharp CV-P13PX 13,000 BTU portable air conditioner works pretty well for a portable air conditioner. The Air Conditioner is on wheels, and can easily be moved from room to room. The CV-P13PX has enough power to cool down a fairly large room. I recommend using a slightly more powerful (Higher BTU) portable unit compared to a Window unit. I chose the 13,000 BTU unit because I’m cooling a large multiple room area. It takes a while for the unit to cool down the area, but within a half hour there is a huge difference in all of the rooms. this unit has automatic louvers which does a nice job spreading the cold air. The unit also has multiple cooling settings, as well as an air filter, and a circulation fan. I wouldn’t recommend moving this unit between rooms with stairs. The CV-P13PX weighs about 100lbs, and is not the easiest piece of electronics to lift. The unit comes with a mounting system to fit just about any standard window. I did have to modify the window exhaust connector to fit into a smaller window, but this really wasn’t a big deal. The CV-P13PX removes all of the Humidity (water) from the air, and exhausts it out the window. The unit does not have a water tank that needs to be emptied like similar portable air conditioner. Although it does have a drainage chamber that occasionally fills with water on particularly hot days. The unit shuts off when the drainage chamber fills, and it needs to be drained in order to start it back up. I was shocked by how much water the CV-P13PX removes from the room. I had problems with the drainage chamber a few times this summer, but for the most part the unit didn’t require any sort of maintenance. The exhaust hose gets pretty hot. I thought about insulating the hose to increase the efficiency of the unit, but it isn’t very practical to insulate a portable system. Just like any other large air conditioner you will see an increase in your electrical bill if you run this AC for extended amounts of time. This unit is efficient, but any 13,000 BTU unit will increase your power consumption.
